Windham Students Earn Statewide Recognition in Scholastic Art Awards
Windham High School and Windham Middle School have received notice that the artwork of 27 students has been selected for recognition in the Scholastic Art Awards of New Hampshire. The honorees include 24 high school students and three middle school students.
Among those recognized, one senior portfolio earned special distinction. In total, 32 individual works of art by Windham students will be displayed at the Stockbridge Theatre at Pinkerton Academy. The exhibition opens on January 19 and will conclude with an awards ceremony on February 8.
The Scholastic Art Awards program is the largest high school art competition and exhibition in New Hampshire. Having even a single piece selected for the statewide exhibition is considered a significant achievement. Artwork is chosen by a panel of art professors, retired teachers, and art educators from neighboring states, with selections determined by majority vote.
Awards are presented at several levels. Gold Key artwork advances through three rounds of jury review and moves on to the national competition. Silver Key pieces are selected through two jury rounds, while Honorable Mention awards recognize additional outstanding work included in the exhibition.
