National Scholastics Art Award Recipients

The Windham High School Art Department is excited to announce that Shanni Zhou has been awarded  a National Gold Medal for her photograph “Porto”. Viviane Snell has been awarded a Silver Medal for her painting, “Diminished Sun”, at the National Scholastic Art Awards. This is the largest and most prestigious student art competition in the country. Several hundred thousand artworks are entered from throughout the country. Fewer than 1% receive national recognition. This winter 1177 pieces of artwork were recognized at the state level, 188 of which were eligible to win awards at the National Scholastic Art Awards. Shanni and Viviane’s pieces were 2 of 25 medals awarded to artwork from New Hampshire. “This is an amazing honor for these young ladies and we are extremely proud of them.”  “We are fortunate in Windham,  to have a strong staff of visual art teachers, from our younger grades, through high school, that support these young creative learners.” - Hannah Cole Visual Arts Teacher and Michael Cirelli Photography Teacher
